Samsung Soul U900 - My Mobile Phone
By Bodhruj Jaman
I thought since it is Mobile Phone week, I should post a little something about MY PHONE! The Samsung Soul isn't without its shortcomings, but once these obstacles are overcome, its nothing short of a great phone. Unique, stylish, functional and pretty durable. Specifications:,. -5 Megapixel Camera -Face Detection -Wide Dynamic Range -Video Camera -3G Internet -MP3 Playback -Video Call -128MB Internal Memory -Slide Form -Touchpad Navigation -Micro SD Card Support -Bluetooth -USB -FM Radio -Java 2.0 -Downloadable Games -6.5 Hrs Talktime Pros Long talk time for a modern phone, but gets hot when you're taking a lot of pictures or listening to a lot of music. Supports (from what I know) up to 4GB Micro SD Storage. Plays MP3, AAC, eAAC and WMA audio files. Slimline form compared to the late 2009/2009 phones. Great camera with wide dynamic range (5MP/2560x1920 resolution) and intelligent face detection as well as image stabilisation (anti shake). 3G Internet for browsing on the go. The touchpad is nice and flashy (NOT intusive during calls at all!). Price: this phone is great and is only around £100 (probably less online). Cons This is a problem with quitea few of the new Samsung phones - They have very low volumes during calls (you can't hear the other person very well), but this is easily fixed my increasing the volume using the side buttons on the phone during a call. The internal memory is pretty low - 128MB isn't enough compared to the massive 8GB internal offered by the likes of the N95 Black. Lack of Wi-Fi loses this phone about 1.5 points (sorry!) I have to admit, the touchpad took a couple of days of hard usage until I got used to it, but not a biggie for me (ITS SOOOO PRETTY!). Conclusion Well this phone is certainly Samsung's 2008 flagship phone, but holds its own in 2009. The price is hard to beat for a phone with the same specs, and any common problems (not many) can be fixed with a few minor adjustments mentioned in this post. It has extreme functionalities and the only major bad point is lack of Wi-Fi. BRILLIANT PHONE: 8.5/10 (maybe I'm biased :P) |
